From The Chairman

We’re working very hard to ensure the integrity of elections in St. Clair County.  We have a team actively reviewing the voting results from the last election in order to ensure that individuals casting votes are legally entitled to cast those votes.  This is a very time-consuming effort, and we could use more help in matching actual voting results with legal voter rolls.  If you’re interested in helping us secure our elections in the County, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Update On Our County Redistricting Lawsuit

Our County redistricting lawsuit is progressing in the courtroom of Judge David Dugan, United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. Judge Dugan was nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the US Senate on Sep 16, 2020. Early in the proceedings, our attorney, Paul Evans, offered a proposed map to replace the map passed by the County Board in May based on inaccurate population estimates. Evans’ proposed map comes very close to the desired County district population recommendations, keeps districts compact, and crosses township lines only where low population make it necessary. Evans claims population shifts have forced the relocation of minority districts and caused other districts to have significant minority populations. As an example, he claims his County District 2 would have substantially equal numbers of African-Americans, Hispanics, and Caucasians. Judge Dugan accepted the proposed map for review. Last week, the attorney for the Democrat Party submitted three independent requests for the dismissal of our lawsuit. Two were immediately dismissed. In order for us to address the third, the Judge asked us to add plaintiffs within each of the affected districts. Paul will have that completed before the next session with Judge Dugan on Nov 17th. Please consider making a donation in support of the lawsuit and the drawing of an alternate map which will ensure County voters are fairly represented: When making a donation in support of this effort, please note on the PayPal or credit card form that it is specifically intended for the lawsuit

Democrats’ Progressive Agenda Stalls: They’ve Run So Far To The Left That Average Americans Can’t Even See Them

Joe Biden has run into the brick wall of American political reality. In 2021, our nation is a center-right nation. As a people, we believe in liberty, individual responsibility, and Constitutionally-protected freedom from our government. Biden has greatly overestimated Americans’ interest in transforming our nation into an entitlement society. His overreach was prodded by historians daring him to become the next Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) who had two-thirds majorities in both the House and Senate when he launched his New Deal programs. His miscalculation has split the Democrat Party along their progressive/moderate fault line. The progressives, with the support of a delusional President, are attempting to change every facet of Americans’ lives. Led by Bernie Sanders, a self-described socialist, they started 2021 with a plan to spend $6T dollars in government handouts through partisan reconciliation, disguised by their new marketing term “human infrastructure,” by adding to the national debt and extracting more taxes from American citizens. They have “compromised” and dropped that figure to $3.5T. The moderates, led by Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, have led a Senate-approved bipartisan effort to pass a $1.2T bill for real physical infrastructure and have said they can support no more than $1.5T in additional spending on social programs through reconciliation. At this point, despite owning the White House, the Senate, and the House, it’s become clear the Democrats can’t effectively govern given the progressives’ determination to greatly increase government largesse. As the country watches the Democrats’ internal temper-tantrum over spending trillions of dollars that we actually don’t have and that Americans don’t believe we need to spend, Joe Biden’s policies over the first nine months of his administration have created total chaos in our nation. Democrats’ embrace of criminals has enabled a dramatic increase in violent crime across the country. Murders are up 30% year-on-year. Biden’s open border policy on our southern border will incent almost 2 million illegal immigrants to cross into the United States in 2021. Fentanyl and meth seizures are up over 700%. As the Democrats try to come to an agreement on their progressive spending spree, inflation is already sapping every American citizen’s buying power lowering their real wages. Joe Biden’s $1.9T pandemic relief bill injected money into an already growing economy driving up demand for a pandemiclimited supply. Wages are up 4.6%, but prices are up 5.6% making every new dollar in our pockets worth less than the previous one. Gas prices are up 42%, beef is up 22%, bacon is up 19%, used cars are up 24%, furniture is up 11%, TVs are up 13%, and new cars are up 9%. As if skyrocketing crime, illegal immigration, and inflation weren’t enough of a problem for our nation, Joe Biden and the Democrats have embraced the radicals in the country’s teachers’ unions who are trying to indoctrinate our children. Biden and his Attorney General, Merrick Garland, are actually trying to silence parents who are standing for their children by preposterously calling them “domestic terrorists.” Additionally, Biden’s foreign policy has been spectacularly incompetent – from Afghanistan to China. Joe Biden’s self-inflicted disaster in Afghanistan was the biggest foreign policy failure of our lifetime. After claiming that he would leave no one behind, he literally left American citizens and our allies behind in a country run by barbaric terrorists – a horrific first in our nation’s history. All of this chaos has rightfully crushed Joe Biden’s approval ratings with some polls showing him at just 36% approval. This, of course, does not bode well for the Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections. Because progressives now have control of the Democrat Party, it’s extremely important that we elect candidates that support our core values of Freedom, Equality, Opportunity, Limited Government, Low Taxes, Strong National Security, and Right To Life to counter the Democrats attempts to transform our nation into a socialist utopia. Let’s get out the vote in 2022!

All Elections Are Local

Is it true that all elections are local? Do local elections, including school board elections impact national politics? Today, that is true, as decisions by local school boards, including Loudon County, Virginia, a wealthy county west of Washington, do have national impacts. In St Clair County we have more local elections than counties in other states: multiple school boards, library boards, township supervisors and road commissioners, county board members, Village trustees, and city Alderman. Note: Villages are organized under Illinois law and generally elect trustees “at large” while cities elect Alderman in districts. These offices give the St Clair Republicans more opportunity to be elected in these positions, especially areas east of Illinois 159 and especially east of Greenmount Road and south to New Athens, Dupo and Marissa. But, but, there aren’t enough Republicans to make a difference! At first glance that may be true, but there are plenty of Republicans, Independents and swing Democrats to shift the tide of control in the county. Here’s why: In the 2020 General Election, the Republican candidate receiving the most votes in the 190 St Clair County precincts was Jim Wilson, candidate for County Board of Review, with 60,069 votes. If you compare his results with those for President Donald Trump who received 56,869 votes, likely from “hard conservative” voters and some traditional Republicans, 3200 more voted for Jim Wilson. Jason Madlock, candidate for Circuit Clerk, received 57,537 votes compared to 56,869 for President Trump. Again, some swing voters moved for Jason, but not as many as Jim Wilson. Compared to my election in 2018 for the County Board of Review, we gained about 10,000 votes more, using Jim Wilson as an example. Some of this may be due to the excitement over President Trump’s re-election, but another reason might be more swing Independents and traditional Democrats voted for our candidates. We still have the “East St Louis gap” which brings in about 8,000 reliable votes for Democrat candidates, but their vote does not impact political positions outside of East St Louis including townships, school boards, villages, cities and county board seats. Their impact is felt on “county wide offices” and state representative and state senate races within the borders of East St Louis, and now Cahokia Heights. That’s a discussion for a future article, including the consolidation of power under Curtis McCall, Sr. Our Party can make inroads in many areas of St Clair County proven by the increase in votes from 2018 to 2020, by appealing to Independents and traditional Democrats on issues of financial stability, equitable representation, property taxes (which school boards have the most control over this portion of our taxes) and quality of life.

It’s Time To Turn St. Clair County Red!

After watching IL Democrats pass bill after bill of progressive madness, voters in St. Clair County are asking themselves, “Who do the Democrats in Southern Illinois actually represent because I don’t support the bills they’re putting into law?” Democrats Latoya Greenwood (House District 114), Katie Stuart (House District 112), and Jay Hoffman (House District 113), in the IL House, and Democrats Rachelle Crowe (Senate District 56) and Chris Belt (Senate District 57), in the IL Senate, all have supported the progressive agenda of JB Pritzker and the Chicago Democrats which clearly don’t represent the values of St. Clair County. 2022 is the year we vote them out of office and replace them with Republican candidates that stand for our beliefs. Despite Illinois students underperforming in every basic skills area, IL Democrats decided that it was far more important for teachers to be indoctrinated with “culturally responsive” standards as opposed to focusing on improving students’ performance on basic skills, like math and English. A new rule that requires “culturally responsive teaching and leading” standards to be incorporated in all Illinois teacher preparation programs will take effect in 2025, because the Illinois General Assembly’s Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) voted to approve the proposed rule on Feb. 17. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) have adopted the new standards. IL Senate Bill 818 (SB 818), signed into law by JB Pritzker on August 21, 2021, mandates sex education standards for grades K-12. Many of the topics included in the standards are clearly age-inappropriate and are subjects that should be left to parents. For example, students in grades K-2 will learn to define gender identity and learn medically-accurate names for genitals. Students in grades 3-5 will learn about masturbation and the differences between cisgender, transgender, gender non-binary, gender expansive, and gender identity. Students in grades 6-8 will learn details about vaginal, oral, and anal sex and the range of identities related to sexual orientation (e.g., heterosexual, bisexual, lesbian, gay, queer, twospirit, asexual, pansexual. It couldn’t be any more clear that IL Democrats believe the government usurps the rights of parents when it comes to their children’s upbringing. IL House Bill 3653, signed into law by JB Pritzker on Feb 22, 2021, was called seriously flawed by the IL Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP). ILACP said “The bill removes safeguards that are currently in place that protect our officers and our citizens, and it includes language that will empower and embolden criminals. It will endanger both our communities and individual citizens.” Specifically, the HB3653 eliminated cash bail. That policy has been a disaster in places like New York City where offenders are released after being arrested for violent crimes only to see them commit even more violent crimes, including murder, rape, and aggravated assault. In fact, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea has said, “Insanity. There’s no other way to describe the resulting crime that has flowed from disastrous bail-reform law.” IL Democrats are simply beholden to the progressive agenda and couldn’t care less about average IL citizens. The bills that they create and the laws that they pass lack the common sense principles embraced by the citizens of Saint Clair County. As is typical with politicians on the left, they focus entirely on feel-good dogma and completely ignore the actual outcomes of the progressive policies they’re hoisting upon us. 2022 is our opportunity to stop the madness being put into law by these out of touch politicians. We must vote them out of office and replace them with Republicans that will stand for us, our families, and our communities.
