The United States is a government described as ‘a representative democracy.’ Representative democracy is a form of democracy in which people vote for representatives who then vote on policy initiatives.
Our elections–with its many parts of petitions, signatures, the spring primary, campaigns, and the general election in November–is representative democracy in motion for 2024. We the people have the responsibility to actively participate as voters–we are the power. Our individual vote is the key to elections; our vote is priceless.
When you are asked for your signature on a petition, get to know that candidate, ask questions, voice your concerns. You are the boss, not the employee.
Thank you for helping us turn St Clair County red!

Changes in St Clair
St Clair precincts were remapped this summer. They had disproportionate numbers among the 205 precincts. By combining smaller precincts and reducing the size of the larger precincts there are now 153 precincts. Registered voters who were affected by this remapping should have received new voter registration cards with the new precinct number by the end of September. Please check the listed polling place, it may have changed from where you voted last year.

What districts will be on my ballot in 2024?
Congressional offices are elected every two years.

St Clair is in two districts
|

The red circle is approximately where St Clair is located. The northwest portion is located in IL-13. The rest of the county is in IL-12.
One of these seats will be on your ballot, depending on your address.

St Clair is represented in Springfield by several districts–the 109th, the 112th, the 113th, the 114th, and the 115th. The county is outlined in red. The districts are the gray lines. Notice the Republicans hold the majority in southern IL. We have work to do in St Clair.
Your address will determine which district will be on your ballot.

IL State Senate Districts
|
|
|
To represent St Clair in the Senate, we have four districts which portion the county; the 55th, the 56th, the 57th, and the 58th. Three of the four are Republicans and we’re coming after the 57th seat in 2026.
Dist. 55 and Dist 58 will be on the ballot in 2024.

Various updates from the Desk of Jennifer Korte:
Invest In Kids Act is a scholarship program for children in low income families to attend a private school of their choice.
IL citizens can choose to donate to the program while receiving a tax break. This program is set to end Jan 2024 which will unfund thousands of kids and force them out of their schools.
Invest in Kids Act levels the playing field for those families who can’t afford private schools for their children. Especially for those kids in failing school districts. The majority of students who benefit from this program are minority students.
Please call:
Rep. Jay Hoffman: (618) 416-7407
Rep. Katie Stuart: (618) 365-6650
Gov. Pritzker: (312)814-2121
Tell them to pass legislation to continue Invest In Kids Act.
FYI: the Teachers Unions do not want this Act to continue.
>However, the Chicago Teachers Union leader sends her child to a private school.
>House Speaker Welch sends his kids to a private school.
>Gov Pritzker sent his kids to a private school.

Candidates need your signature.
In keeping with the season, the St Clair Republicans are hosting an event at our office. Bring the kiddos in their costumes as a pre-run for the big day. If not in costume, have them ready with a “trick”–a joke would be fun. Stop by for hot dogs and candy. Meet candidates and sign their petitions.

Rep Kevin Schmidt (Dist 114) is listening to his constituents.
These are some of the events he did just in the last 30 days.
- Presented a check on behalf of himself and the Sportsmen Caucus to the Mascoutah Trap Tribe youth shooting club.
- He hosted a Shred event in O’Fallon.
- He was invited to be principal for a day at a Mascoutah grade school and the High School. He read to the younger kids and answered questions from the students and faculty. There were also one on one meetings with some of the administrators to hear their concerns. He even worked a couple of lunch shifts!
- He hosted a utility bills clinic to help people save money on their bills. The citizens utility board gave a presentation and then did one on one analysis of individual bills for the people.
- He participated in a metro east literacy project for seniors in East Saint Louis.
- He went to the Mascoutah Library to check out some items that they purchased with state grant funds for their design lab. They now have a 3D printer, a cricket with heat press, and a photo quality printer. These “BEYOND BOOKS” items are important to nurturing the creative minds of now and of the future. The USA has a rich history of innovation and invention.
- He was given a tour of the Cave at high school district 201. Their focus is on vocational and academic excellence. No school in ALL of southern Illinois has even close to what they have. He will be sending his own sons to 201 in the future. He even tried some of the delicious soup made by the students.
- Joined a tour of the new Chain of Rocks bridge project. Well functioning roads and bridges are essential for society.
- He participated in the Metro east Literacy Project today in East Saint Louis. Books were read to senior citizens in honor of national Seniors Day and national Grandparents Day .
- He met with the Metro East Homeschooling Archery team to give Caleb Alexander and Adler Wahlig certificates for scoring in the top 10 in the state championship meet. He also presented the team with a check from the Sportsmen Caucus of which he is a member. This organization is doing great things for Archery and the youth. He closed his time there with a Q and A.
Rep Schmidt deserves another term in office. Sign his petition and encourage your neighbors to vote for him in the March Primary and the November General elections.
